Aklief cream (Trifarotene) is a topical prescription medication used to treat acne vulgaris in people 9 years of age and older. This medication may decrease the number and severity of acne pimples and speed up healing of pimples that develop. Trifarotene belongs to a class of medications called retinoids. It works by affecting the growth of cells and decreases swelling and inflammation. It is not known if Aklief Cream is safe and effective in children younger than 9 years old.

Aklief Side Effects:
The common side effects of Aklief may include dryness, itching, mild stinging or burning, scaling, and skin redness especially during the first four weeks of using this medication.
Many people using this medication do not have any serious side effects. Inform your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:

• Eyelid swelling;
• Skin discoloration;
• Very red or irritated skin

Aklief Directions:
Apply a thin layer of Aklief cream to the affected areas once daily, in the evening on clean and dry skin. Use a moisturizer as frequently as needed from the start of treatment. Avoid contact with the eyes, lips, paranasal creases, and mucous membranes.
Aklief Precautions:
You should not use Aklief cream if you are allergic to Trifarotene, or to vitamin-A related drugs or if you have any other allergies. Before you start using Aklief cream, inform your doctor or pharmacist about your medical history especially of eczema. Aklief cream may make you more sensitive to the sun. Limit your time in the sun and avoid tanning booths and sunlamps. Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing when you are outdoors. Inform your doctor right away if you get sunburned or have skin redness or blisters. This medication should only be used during pregnancy if it's clearly needed. It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breast-feeding. There may be an interaction between Trifarotene and other products such as products containing alpha hydroxy acids and glycolic acid, hair perming solutions, alcohol/lime/menthol-containing products, medicated or abrasive soaps and cleansers, soaps and cosmetics with a strong drying effect.
