Breo Ellipta (Fluticasone Furoate/Vilanterol Trifenatate) is a prescription medication used to treat asthma and COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), in order to improve symptoms and prevent bronchospasm or asthma attacks. Breo Ellipta contains two medications, fluticasone and vilanterol. Fluticasone is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation in the lungs and airways by working to inhibit inflammatory cells, such as mast cells, neutrophils, lymphocytes, and macrophages. Vilanterol works by stimulating certain cells in the respiratory system, which leads to bronchodilation and the relaxation of airway muscles. Breo Ellipta is not a rescue medication. If you are having a bronchospasm or asthma attack, use a fast-acting inhaler. Symptoms of asthma include shortness of breath, chest tightness or pain, wheezing when exhaling, and coughing attacks. Breo Ellipta Side Effects:

The common side effects of this medication include headache, back pain, joint pain, fever, flu symptoms, increased blood pressure, runny or stuffy nose, sore throat, cough, or a hoarse voice.

• Blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain, or seeing halos around lights;
• Chest pain, fast or pounding heartbeats, pounding in your neck or ears;

Use this medication as prescribed by your doctor. Use this medication at the same time each day, and not more than once in a 24-hour period. After using the inhaler device, rinse out your mouth with water to prevent thrush, a fungal infection in the mouth or throat. Store this medication at room temperature away from moisture, heat, and light. Keep out of sight and reach of children.

Breo Ellipta Precautions:

You should not use this medication if you are allergic to fluticasone, vilanterol, or milk proteins. To make sure Breo Ellipta is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have glaucoma or cataract, a weak immune system, heart disease, high blood pressure, liver disease, a thyroid disorder, seizures, diabetes, any type of infection, or osteoporosis. Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or if you are breastfeeding, to discuss any possible complications in the mother or the baby. Breo Ellipta is not approved for use by anyone younger than 18 years old. Steroid use can affect your immune system. Avoid being near people who are sick or have infections. Call your doctor for preventative treatment if you are exposed to chicken pox or measles. Tell your doctor about any medications you are taking in order to reduce the risk of interactions.
