Minims Tetracaine Information:

Minims Tetracaine Information

Minims Tetracaine (Tetracaine Hydrochloride) is a medication used to numb the eye to allow specific procedures without causing pain, such as removing corneal sutures (stitches), measuring eye pressure, removing foreign objects from the eye, and performing specific eye examinations. It belongs to a class of medications called local anesthetics and is applied topically. Minims Tetracaine works by interfering with the entry of sodium ions into nerve cells, which reduces the ability of nerves to generate impulses and send pain sensations.

Common side effects of Minims Tetracaine may include a temporary burning sensation in the eye when you instill the eye drops, temporary blurred vision, or inflammation or swelling of the front of the eyeball (cornea).

Contact your doctor immediately if you notice more serious side effects such as:
• Signs of too much of this medication being absorbed into the body (dizziness or drowsiness, increased sweating, irregular heartbeat, muscle twitching or trembling, nausea or vomiting, shortness of breath or troubled breathing, unusual excitement, nervousness, or restlessness, or unusual tiredness or weakness)

Minims Tetracaine Directions:

Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before using the drops to avoid contamination. Prepare the Drops. Check the expiration date to ensure the drops are safe to use. Shake the vial gently if instructed (most Minim Tetracaine eye drops are single-dose and don't require shaking). Open the Vial. Twist off the cap of the single-dose vial. Tilt Your Head Back. Sit or lie down and tilt your head back. Apply the Drops. Use your non-dominant hand to gently pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket. Hold the vial above your eye with your dominant hand, avoiding direct contact with your eye or eyelashes. Squeeze one drop into the pocket of the lower eyelid. Close your eyes gently and avoid blinking excessively to allow the anesthetic to take effect. Repeat if Necessary. If both eyes need numbing, repeat the process for the other eye using the same vial. Discard the Vial. Minim Tetracaine eye drops are usually single-use. Discard the vial after use to prevent contamination.

Minims Tetracaine Precautions:

Do not use this medication if you are allergic to tetracaine hydrochloride or any other ingredients in this medication or if you have had an allergic reaction to other local anesthetics. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Minims Tetracaine may interact with several medications, especially sulphonamide medications, such as the antibiotic sulfamethoxazole. Tell your doctor about any medicines, vitamins, or herbal supplements you have recently taken to reduce the risk of any possible interactions. This medication may temporarily cause blurred vision.

Remove your contact lenses before applying Duolube ointment. Please wait at least 15 minutes after using the ointment before reinserting them. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until your vision is normal. While your eyes are still numb, avoid dust and other irritants that might enter the eye without you noticing. Avoid touching or rubbing your eyes for at least an hour after the exam or procedure. Do not use these eye drops for long; prolonged use can damage the cornea. Frequent use of local anesthetics in the eye over long periods may affect your eyesight. If this medication gets on your fingers or hands, it may cause a rash with dryness and cracking of the skin. Wash your hands immediately if you touch your eye after applying this medication. Do not use this medication in children without the advice of a doctor.
