Sernivo (Betamethasone Dipropionate) is a topical spray used for the treatment of mild to moderate plaque psoriasis in adults. Betamethasone Dipropionate belongs to the group of drugs called corticosteroids. This medication works by preventing the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation. It reduces the swelling, itching and redness that may occur with plaque psoriasis. You will see an improvement in your symptoms within four weeks of treatment.

Sernivo Side Effects

Just like any other medication, there may be some side effects associated with using Sernivo Spray. Some of the common side effects of Sernivo may include burning, dryness at the application site, irritation and itching. Contact your doctor immediately if you have any of the serious side effects of Sernivo such as acne, extreme or unwanted hair growth, skin thinning or discoloration and stretch marks and it is severe or bothersome.

Sernivo Directions

Sernivo Spray is for use on the skin only. You should not use this spray on your face, scalp, groin, underarms or other areas that may rub together unless directed by your doctor. Shake the bottle well before each dose. Spray enough medication to cover the affected areas in a thin film and gently rub with clean hands. It is usually used twice daily or as directed by your doctor. Do not use this medication for more than four weeks.

Sernivo Precautions:

Do not use Sernivo spray if you are allergic to Betamethasone or to any of the ingredients in this medication. This medication should not be used on sores on skin that is infected or thinning. You should not use corticosteroid medications for a long period of time or over large areas as this will make it more difficult for your body to respond to physical stress. Sernivo spray should not be used during pregnancy unless it is clearly needed. It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk. Consult with your doctor before breast-feeding. Inform your doctor if you are using an oral corticosteroid such as prednisone as this may interact with this medication.
