Visanne (generic name-Dienogest) is used to treat endometriosis, a condition in which tissue that normally lines the uterus grows outside the uterus. Dienogest belongs to a group of medications called progestins. It works by inhibiting the effect of estrogen on the endometrial tissue, thereby leading to the shrinking of the endometrial tissue and reducing pelvic pain and painful monthly bleedings.
