Jalyn Information:
Jalyn (generic name: Dutasteride/Tamsulosin) is a drug which is prescribed for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men with an enlarged prostate. Jalyn contains a combination of dutasteride and tamsulosin. Dutasteride prevents the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the body. DHT is involved in the development of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Tamsulosin is in a group of drugs called alpha-adrenergic blockers. Tamsulosin relaxes the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, making it easier to urinate. Prostate enlargement is a common condition that affects older men and is usually not a serious threat to health. The prostate is a small gland found only in men, located between the penis and bladder. If the prostate becomes enlarged, it can place pressure on the bladder and urethra, the tube through which urine passes.
Jalyn Side Effects:
As with any drug, there may be side effects from taking Jalyn including decreased libido, decreased amount of semen production during sex, impotence, breast tenderness or enlargement, mild dizziness and runny nose. More serious side effects may include feeling faint and a penis erection that is painful or that lasts 4 hours or more. If you experience any side effects you must seek immediate medical attention for safety.
Jalyn Directions:
You should follow the instructions of the doctor who prescribed it you, and there will also be dosage and information on the pack. Jalyn comes in capsule form and should be with water 30 minutes after a meal. Do not crush, break or chew the capsules as this may cause too much of the drug to be released at once, which may have undesirable effects. Jalyn should be stored at room temperature away from direct light and heat.
Jalyn Precautions:
If you are allergic to any of the ingredients of Jalyn you should not take it, and should inform your doctor. You must consult your doctor if you have any pre-existing medical conditions, including liver or kidney disease, high or low blood pressure or if you have a history of prostate cancer. You should consult your doctor if you are taking any other medications, as they may interact with Jalyn including cimetidine, conivaptan, cyclosporine, imatinib, isoniazid, methimazole, pioglitazone, ropinirole, ticlopidine, blood thinners, antibiotics, antidepressants, antifungals, anti-malarials, erectile dysfunction medications, heart or blood pressure medication, HIV/AIDs or psychiatric medications.
