Embeline Information:

Embeline (Clobetasol Propionate) is a corticosteroid medication that helps reduce inflammation in the body. Embeline is commonly used to treat psoriasis, eczema, and seborrheic dermatitis, among other skin conditions that respond to steroid medication. Embeline controls inflammation by mimicking naturally occurring corticosteroid hormones produced by our adrenal glands, which are two small glands that sit on top of our kidneys. In addition to reducing inflammation (redness and swelling) in the area that they are applied, topical corticosteroids also suppress the immune response, reduce cell turnover, and constrict (narrow) blood vessels. Symptoms of skin conditions that may need corticosteroids include dry, flaky, thickened skin that is often itchy and sometimes painful. Your doctor will discuss the most effective treatment for your specific symptoms.

Embeline Side Effects:

Common side effects of using Embeline include burning, itching, swelling, or irritation of treated skin, dry or cracking skin, redness or crusting around hair follicles, spider veins, stretch marks, rash or hives, acnes, or temporary hair loss. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience worsening of your skin condition, severe irritation or oozing of any treated skin, rapid changes in vision or eye pain, or signs of high blood sugar, including increased thirst, increased urination, dry mouth, and a fruity breath odor. Watch for any signs of absorbing the medication through your skin. This includes weight gain in your face and shoulders, slow wound healing, skin discolouration, thinning skin, increased body hair, drowsiness, mood changes, menstrual changes, or sexual changes. If you experience any signs of an allergic reaction or any serious side effects, seek emergency medical attention.

Embeline Directions:

Take Embeline as directed by your doctor. Directions and dosage information can also be found on the pack or leaflet inside the pack. The typical dosage of Embeline is 0.5 %. Canada Drugs Online offers creams, ointments, and lotions, all in a dosage of 0.05 %/50 gm. Apply a small amount of medicine to the affected area. Gently rub the medicine in until it is evenly distributed. Wash your hands after applying this medicine, unless your hands are part of treated area. Do not bandage or wrap the affected area unless directed otherwise by your doctor. If you miss a dose of the medicine, apply it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Store Embeline at room temperature in a dry place, and away from light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not freeze this medication.

Embeline Precautions:

Before using Embeline, tell your doctor if you have ever had any type of skin infection, a skin reaction to any steroid medication, liver disease, or an adrenal gland disorder. Steroid medications can increase the glucose levels in your blood or urine. Tell your doctor if you have diabetes. Embeline is not approved for use by anyone under the age of 12. Children can absorb larger amounts of this medication through the skin and may be more likely to have side effects. Do not use Embeline on broken or infected skin, and avoid using on open wounds.
The generic alternative is not manufactured by the company that makes the brand product.
