Nicorette Gum Information:

Nicorette Original Gum (generic name: Nicotine) is a stop smoking product used to help people who want to quit smoking. It treats the nicotine withdrawals symptoms which aids giving up smoking. Nicotine is the active ingredient which is found in cigarettes and tobacco. The gum works by releasing small amounts of nicotine into the blood stream to help fight cravings. Smoking is the leading cause of lung disease, and people who smoke also increase the risk of heart disease, stroke and mouth or throat cancer. Nicorette Gum Side Effects:

As with any drug, there may be side effects from taking Nicorette Original Gum including headache, changes in heartbeat, sore mouth, sore throat, changes in taste, dry mouth, upset stomach, burping, hiccups, muscle pain and joint pain. More serious side effects may include fast or pounding heartbeat, fluttering in the chest, extreme weakness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting and bronchospasm (wheezing, tight chest and trouble breathing). Nicorette Gum Directions:

You should follow the instructions of the doctor who prescribed Nicorette Original Gum to you. Directions and dosage information can also be found on the pack or leaflet inside the pack. Nicorette Original Gum comes in chewable tablet form. You should chew Nicorette gum whenever you have a craving for nicotine (i.e. if you feel the need to smoke). Nicorette Original Gum should be stored at room temperature away from direct sunlight and heat.

Nicorette Gum Precautions:

If you are allergic to any of the ingredients of Nicorette Original Gum, you should avoid taking it and inform your doctor. You must consult your doctor if you have any pre-existing medical conditions including coronary artery disease, circulation problems, history of stroke, blood clot or heart attack, untreated high blood pressure, mouth or dental problems, liver or kidney disease, diabetes, thyroid disorders, stomach ulcer, asthma, bronchitis, pheochromocytoma or if you are on a low salt diet. You must consult your doctor if you are taking any other medications as they may interact with Nicorette Original Gum, including cold or allergy medication, imipramine, insulin, isoproterenol, labetalol, oxazepam, pentazocine, prazosin, propanolol, theophylline and varenicline. It is important that you inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive or breastfeeding as Nicorette Original Gum may cause harm to unborn and new born babies.
