Aciphex Information:
Aciphex (generic name: Rabeprazole Sodium) is a drug which is prescribed for the treatment of the symptoms of gastrointestinal reflux disease and heartburn. Acid reflux disease is when the stomach acid flows back (refluxes) into the esophagus (food pipe). When this happens more than twice per week, you may have gastroesophageal acid reflux disease. It is also prescribed for other conditions which involve high levels of stomach acid including Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Aciphex is a proton pump inhibitor and works by helping to heal damage to the esophagus caused by stomach acid, as well a decreasing aid in the stomach, and reducing the symptoms of heartburn and other acid reflux diseases. It is also sometimes prescribed in conjunction with other antibacterial drugs as an antibiotic to help prevent gastric ulcers caused by helicobacter pylori.
Aciphex Side Effects:
You should follow As with any drug, there may be side effects from taking Aciphex including rashes, itching, headache, upset stomach, insomnia, diarrhea and nervousness or anxiety. More serious side effects may include swelling of the face, throat and mouth, difficulty breathing and hives. Achipex may increase the risk of bone fractures. It is therefore not recommended for patients with osteoporosis.
