Lopressor Information:
Lopressor (generic name: Metoprolol) is a drug which is prescribed for the treatment of high blood pressure, also known as hypertension. The active ingredient is Metoprolol. Metropolol is a beta blocker which affects the heart and circulation. It works by reducing the amount of work that the heart has to do and reduces chest pain. Many patients with hypertension do not have any symptoms at all, which is why it has been dubbed “the silent killer”, it is therefore recommended that after age 60 you have your blood pressure checked on a regular basis – at least once every 6 months. Lopressor is also indicated for the treatment of tremors, angina (chest pain) and heart rhythm disorders. In many cases, these conditions can be closely linked, as angina can often be a sign of high blood pressure, and high blood pressure can cause heart conditions to develop if left untreated. Lopressor is a popular drug for the treatment of hypertension with excellent results in most patients.
